When I was a teen, one of the things I wished for was someone to talk to- someone who wouldn’t judge me, who would be a sounding board and would help me make decisions that would impact my future. When I learned that there was a profession that would provide exactly that, and more, I strove to be for others what I never had myself. I became a mental health counselor or therapist- whatever you prefer to call me- but a person who believes that there are times in all our lives when we could use someone to help us work through whatever issues/concerns/crisis/problems we are facing to help us to work through them and come out in a more positive place on the other side. I have worked as a psychotherapist for over 10 years, assisting clients with many issues including (but not limited to) self-esteem, career problems, anxiety, depression, communication skills, decision-making, LGBQ-related concerns, boundaries, burn-out, parenting, spiritual and existential questions and relationships. Every person is unique which is why my style is to get to know a person’s specific needs and together find ways to address each client’s specific goals utilizing a variety of techniques and theories catered to each individual. I have been privileged to work with clients from 4 years old to 78 years old. Each period in our lives comes with unique challenges and rewards. My biggest strength is the ability to listen without judgment, learn about who a person truly is and assist them in transitioning into who they want to become.
