I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in working with teens, young adults and new parents who are struggling with anxiety, depression and adjustment issues. I use evidence-based treatments to help you or your loved one manage symptoms. I help my younger clients work through the many trials and adjustments that come with growing up, and I work with young adults who are experiencing periods of transition and who often describe themselves as stressed out and overwhelmed. I help new and expecting mothers & fathers who are struggling with a perinatal mood disorder, or simply need support while adjusting to parenthood. Whether you are seeking support for yourself, or for your loved one, I’m here to help you through these difficult times and empower you with therapeutic tools that will last you a lifetime. I work with clients experiencing a variety of issues including: Anxiety Depression & suicidal ideation Adjustment issues Family conflict Low self-esteem Relationship issues Grief & Loss Self-harm behaviors Drug use/abuse Bullying Trauma Together we’ll explore what brought you to therapy in the first place, but we’ll also go beyond that. You’ll learn new ways to understand and solve your problems and develop healthy coping mechanisms so that you’ll be equipped to care for your mental well-being in the long term.
I see our time together as valuable, strategic time. While I provide space for self-exploration, my approach is to ensure you are well equipped with ways to manage symptoms when you leave my office. Together, we’ll identify the right tools to implement into your specific situation. Then we’ll practice and reflect on these strategies so you can continue to successfully use these tools in the future. As we get to know each other, you’ll find that I’m caring, compassionate, and nonjudgemental but I’m also straightforward and honest. It’s important to me to establish a connection with you through a strong therapeutic relationship. The most important thing to me is to help you feel better, be able to lead a fulfilling life, and not get stuck or held back due to anxiety or depression. Parents- I can help your teen work through difficulties with anxiety, depression, and the big life transitions that come with adolescence. Young adults- my therapeutic services will benefit you as you work through life transitions, relationship problems, depression, anxiety, and other challenges related to your mental health.
My approach to therapy is not a one-size-fits-all approach. I use a combination of goal-oriented therapy with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). These modalities of therapy will help you gather coping skills needed for managing your mental health.
As a mother of three, I understand how important it is to have emotional support during pregnancy, postpartum and motherhood, and I am passionate about my work with women and new and expecting parents. In addition to private practice, I work as a mental health therapist at a children’s hospital where I work with pediatric patients ages 4-17 who are experiencing a wide range of issues from learning disabilities to severe mental illness. I am passionate about the populations I serve and love what I do. I have a strong pull towards helping others and bring an open, nonjudgemental presence to sessions. I have a natural ability to: Help people identify what they are feeling Collaborate with people to set goals and help them reach them Explain mental health symptoms in an easy to understand way Inspire hope for getting better People who know me often say that I am a good listener who can help people through difficult and stressful times.
