In addition to being an LMHC, licensed mental health counselor working with adults, I am a also a licensed teacher and school counselor, specializing in working with children and adolescents struggling with social emotional and behavioral challenges. Additionally, I work with parents/guardian and families. My guidance and support in helping empower clients to use their strengths to find solutions to problems is something I am proud to share. Together, we can break down problems into manageable pieces, prioritize what needs to come first and what can wait, explore and critically analyze the potential outcomes, and then make an informed choice...NEVER giving up! Currently, I accept Aetna, Cigna, Point 32 (Tufts and Harvard Pilgrim) and am getting credentialed with other insurance companies, so please continue to check back; clients may also self or private pay. I also have the ability to offer a sliding scale, as well as partial scholarships, to ensure all clients have access to therapy.
Through listening and getting to know you and what your goals are, we will take action steps toward making each day a little better. We will identify your hopes and then harness your strengths to empower you to make healthy choices that will create a ripple effect. I believe that most people are unaware of all of the tools they possess, or otherwise may need to learn alternatives to build more skills. No one wants to fail, or feel badly, or experience hopelessness. So let’s get started. I promise to work as hard as you do to facilitate the positive changes necessary that will lead to greater satisfaction and overall happiness.
My guidance and support in helping clients to find solutions to life problems is one of my greatest gifts that I am proud to be able to share with you. Together, we can break down problems into more manageable pieces, prioritize what needs to come first and what can wait, exploring and critically analyzing the potential outcomes of our choices, and then choosing carefully but confidently, you will gain the skills necessary for being a problem solver, one of the most important qualities one person can share with another. I acknowledge that life is full of problems. It is full of problems, all with solutions, if we are creative and determined and don't give up, and I assure you that I will NOT give up. We've got this!
Having a hard time finding the light? I pride myself on finding the positive in just about any situation- reframes, choices, lens, perspectives, expectations, kindness and grace, time, reality, impact, goals, motivation, experiences, YOU- there is light and goodness in you and around you, and I am here to help you see it when you feel stuck in the darkness. HOPE and POSITIVITY! That is what I have to offer you.
In case you don't know it yet, our thoughts, feelings, and actions are closely knitted together, sometimes knotted together. What you may not know is that while emotions come naturally, and we can learn to manage them, it's not necessarily easy or automatic. And our actions are often a reactive response to our feelings, often creating ineffective habits or patterns of behavior, making those take time and targeted effort to change. But the great news is that our thoughts can be quite easy to change once we learn how. It's like changing a channel, or sending our brain a different message. And that means once we are able to learn how to rethink and reframe our thoughts, it can impact our feelings, and thus, the actions that follow.
While not every individual is traumatized by experiences they have had, we all have one thing in common, that we have undoubtedly experienced some traumatic events in our lifetime, beginning with birth. While what happens before and after that point up until now are beyond the scope of our control, by understanding the ways trauma impacts our minds and bodies, we can move about this world and one another in a thoughtful and informed way. Trauma has the ability to influence all sorts of aspects of our lives, from education and job choices, to relationships and fears, to aspirations, defensive mechanisms, coping strategies and more. By seeking to understand one another better, having empathy for our fellow humans, and moving about the world with greater awareness and intentionality, we can all contribute to a more kind and peaceful world existence, one that acknowledges and seeks to heal its pain.

I know it's easy to point out someone's faults, and it is really easy to identify all of our own, sometimes thinking that we can't change, but I know we CAN. So, let's start with your strengths- identify them, acknowledge them, support them with specific examples, providing irrefutable evidence that we do have strengths. And we can use them to build new skills that will help us not only acquire the ability to go through life more healthily and happily, but we can do so like a super hero, or a rock star, or whatever kind of role and identity you imagine is strong enough to overcome life's obstacles. When you forget your goodness and your strengths, I will be there to remind you, provide evidence, and convince you that YOU ARE GOOD, incredible, smart, beautiful, amazing even! And I'll keep reminding you until you are able to remind yourself when it needs to be remembered.
