Hello, fellow human, you are doing your best everyday. You're ready to take the next step towards whole wellness. You are interested in becoming a better version of yourself and how brave! It would be an honor to bear witness to your story, your pain, your joys. If you are struggling in your relationships, with yourself, your loved ones, or your colleagues; or perhaps your relationship with food is unhealthy, (and/or other substances/behaviors), is affecting the way you feel about yourself, your relationships or simply your ability to 'do life', we can work together and support your needs.
In our first session together, I will gather some information on what brings you to therapy and the relief you are looking for. I will ask if you have ever worked with a therapist in the past, and if you can identify what worked and what did not, so we can determine if I am the right fit for you. By the end of our first few sessions, we will co-create a plan to help alleviate your symptoms. I aim to be your navigator/co-pilot; I will try to better understand where you want to go and help explore what might be getting in your way.
I think my gifts as a therapist are authenticity, compassion, and ability to help people find the words they can't find themselves. As we get to know each other, you may find I use 'real talk', storytelling and humor to convey messages and teachings. I would describe myself as a modern day spiritual warrior, balanced thinker and an intuitive everywoman.
I work with various methods depending on what the client responds to or what the moment calls for. With that in mind, I generally come from a interpersonal and attachment theory foundation, (meaning, at some point we will explore how your thoughts and feelings affect your relationships and vice versa, plus examine how your early attachments might influence your current state of being.) I like to use a combination of psychoeducation, CBT, ACT, Motivational Interviewing and Narrative Therapy to help you better understand yourself and to create strategies to get the relief you deserve. I am also interested in how the brain evolves (did you know the brain develops throughout your entire life? how cool is that?!) and how meditation and our understanding of neurobiology can help shape thoughts, feelings and behaviors.
