If your negative thought loops have impacted your life in some way, you're not alone - you're human. I view therapy as a chance to address and improve the thinking patterns that keep you down for longer than feels healthy. My aim is to help directly confront problem areas and, together, construct short- and long-term goals that help bring about healthy change.
In our first session together, we will explore any existing problem areas that are leading to any anxiety or distress in your life. We will collaboratively create a set of specific goals that will allow us to gradually achieve the best results for you. Homework will likely be assigned after the first session, as this is essential to the therapeutic success. Be mindful that the efforts made on your part outside of therapy sessions are often reflective of outcomes! The subject of therapy is YOU, one that you should approach with curiosity and care.
I am a solution-focused therapist at heart who leans strongly on cognitive-behavioral principlee. The combination of these modalities usually leads to a high level of engagement and receptiveness with my clients! I am also a strong advocate of using a conversational tone throughout sessions, which I have observed encourages a healthy space to exchange thoughts, ideas, and strategies.
From the outset, I try to use collaborative measures that highlight openness, honesty, and safe exploration. I use a combination of Cognitive-Behavioral, Solution-Focused, Emotionally-Focused, and Relational techniques to varying degrees based on need. I promote the use of therapeutic tools such as thought reframing, emotion regulation, and mindfulness in a healthy way that works for you and your own unique needs.
I frequently utilize various CBT techniques to explore the relationships between your thinking patterns, emotional states, and behavior/decision-making. Additional techniques are used to deconstruct unhealthy thinking patterns that may be interfering in various areas of your life.
I use EFT to explore underlying emotional states associated with early- and present-attachment patterns with loved ones.
I use the therapeutic alliance as a data points for improvement in interpersonal skil development.
I use motivational interviewing techniques to evaluate your motivation, ambivalence, or resistance to healthy, adaptive change.
I use psychodynamic techniques to assess the unconscious motivations and desires that lead to unhealthy thinking patterns, emotional states, and/or behavioral patterns.
