About me

Welcome! Thanks for reading my profile in search of enhancing your own emotional wellbeing. Together we can work towards your goals as you define them. Know that I grow from our healing partnership as well, and value our shared collaboration. I want to help you to find ways to feel more empowered and comfortable in your life. My clinical background is as follows: I got my BA from the University of Pennsylvania, and I graduated with a Masters in Social Work from Fordham University in New York City in 1992. Since then I have practiced with individuals in New York City, and since 2006 have worked with clients in North Carolina and Tennessee. I have developed deep roots in Western NC and East Tennessee. Along the way I have had a career that included management of behavioral health programs, working in hospitals and in the field, with people with a wide range of emotional needs related to their behavioral health.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session is pretty simple. We get to introduce ourselves to each other. This is when I hear your concerns and difficulties, hopes and aspirations… essentially why you are seeking help. Ask any questions that might make you feel more comfortable. This lays the groundwork for the healing processes that we will create as we move forward. And, it’s ok to be nervous. What’s most important to me is that we are a good fit for one another, and that may take a few sessions to determine.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Simply put, I believe my greatest strength in working with people is that they feel that I am really hearing them (and I am). Another strength of mine is to be non-judgmental. I choose to let you know that I have had my own struggles with self-esteem, relationships, addictions and many other challenges in life, and I know firsthand that they are surmountable. I hear who you say you are, and might challenge that vision; the vision that is based on the stories you have believed about yourself; and then help you to claim your most authentic self. This allows for the best chance for a more fulfilling life - working as a team and establishing trust with one another.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I most enjoy working with people who are genuinely longing to feel better; and with people who want to be more at peace in their lives and with the choices they make. I feel my skills are best suited to serve clients who are ready to move ahead and make positive changes in their lives by letting go of what no longer serves.

My treatment methods

Strength-Based

The objective of the strengths-based approach is to protect and nurture your independence, resilience, and ability to make choices for your own wellbeing. In my practice, I combine a variety of treatment methods reflective of your specific needs and goals. These treatment modalities include parts of Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other appropriate treatment methods that have benefitted other clients.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a powerful therapy approach that helps you understand and heal the different parts of yourself. It’s based on the idea that we all have multiple inner parts—some that protect us, some that carry pain, and a core Self that is wise, compassionate, and capable of healing. Instead of fighting or feeling overwhelmed by difficult emotions, IFS helps you build a relationship with these parts, bringing more balance, self-acceptance, and lasting change. It’s especially helpful for those struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, or patterns of self-criticism.

I have been in therapy for several years. Through moves and state changes I've had to change therapist. I've been seeing migs for several months now. Therapy is my favorite part of my week. Our sessions are like having coffee with an old friend. I am met with understanding and empathetic guidance. He practices different therapy Styles, which I find to be useful since one solution doesn't fit every problem.
