I am Dr. William A. Lambos. I am dedicated to providing quality care that emphasizes treating you as a whole person. In my treatment model, medication is a last resort and utilized only after other options have been fully explored. My approach differs in that I recognize the role of the brain in mental health. I recognize that problems in one area of a client's life impact other areas, and so my philosophy is designed to integrate all aspects of functioning. I am committed to helping you achieve balance and harmony in every area of your life by reducing stress and teaching independent self-regulation. What makes me different is that my approach "Leads with The Brain," and finishes with how you achieve balance and self-awareness. Many behavioral health issues have brain-based components that are usually ignored. Once these are identified and handled, therapy can do its job as it was always meant to work. In today's hectic, busy world, the keys to a peaceful and prosperous existence include the ability to manage stress caused by demands on our time and energy. The unique selection of resources combines effective traditional approaches with innovative methods of treating the brain and body.
During the first session - the intake - time must be managed carefully so that the patient has the opportunity to: - Form an impression of me as a candidate for their therapist; - An adequate history can be obtained; - Presenting condition(s) or complaints identified; - All the required fields are completed. Through all of the above, a therapeutic alliance must be established. Despite the challenges, I have yet to see a client that asked for another therapist.
I consider my greatest strengths to be knowledge, experience, and caring about my clients. As much as this sounds like "common sense", I am never surprised by how many therapists "don't get it." I've "been there" myself, and I am proud to say "I get it", and will "get you."
I specialize in individuals with "high-level" problems. My best fit for clients are otherwise successful individuals who may own or run businesses or corporate department, deal with above average levels of responsibility, and are seen by others as leaders in their area. Gender does not matter, nor race, nor religious beliefs. If you feel your problems are likely to be shared by others who are considered leaders, managers, or professionals with high responsibility, then I am likely to be a good fit for you.
I trained with Albert Ellis, one of the most influential clinical psychologists of the 20th century, and am certified in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) by The Ellis Institute in Manhattan, NY.
I am fully trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR) for treating traumatic exposure and PTSD. Trauma therapy has increasingly become a targeted modality for over 60% of patients.
