Hi, my name is Elizabeth, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a Master’s degree in Psychology. My objective is to help you achieve your goals and feel better about your emotional well-being and your life . I hope to help you work through challenges and find new coping skills.
As a former Therapist in Substance abuse treatment I learned how I can apply my knowledge to other types of problems and losses.
My initial goal is to help you feel like this is a “safe space” to discuss your personal issues.
First session
In the first session my goal is to learn about my client, their life, lifestyle as well as the issues that resulted in coming to Therapy. I want to understand your goals and what you want to achieve by coming to therapy . I strive to make clients feel comfortable and heard in a non judgmental space.
Strengths
As I have worked in different environments including substance abuse and other counseling centers, as well as with many different populations and cultures I feel i am able to help by having insight and understanding of other peoples lives . I am comfortable working with people from different cultures and backgrounds, ages , LGBTQ etc. I look forward to working with people during difficult times in their lives . I hope to empower clients to face life's challenges and help develop coping skills to regain some peace and joy out of life . I have extensive training and experience in working with anxiety , depression and trauma as well.
Ideal clients
My main specialties are substance abuse work as well as trauma informed counseling. In addition I am well prepared to work with emotional distress including depression and anxiety issues and mood disorders. I am prepared to address many of life's challenges such as coping with illness, job loss, divorce etc. I look at people with a person first view, so rather than labeling issues or other identities I find myself more of a generalist that can work with so many different types of people.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have over 17 years of experience / My goal is to help clients cope with maladaptive thinking patterns and also to improve their life in general.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
In our fast paced and technology driven society it can be challenging to learn how to focus on what matters- ourselves and to slow ourselves down enough to appreciate our lives and our time. I am here to help with that
Trauma-Focused CBT
Sometimes Trauma results in symptoms of PTSD and otherwise we also need to learn how past trauma is affecting our current thoughts, attitudes and behaviors. I can work with clients to develop coping skills so that past and recent or current traumas can be handled so that there is still quality of life and even joy in life and living.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
We will work towards emotional stability rather than emotional reactivity or being led by our emotions. Helping clients to live with intent and take control of their lives.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Working towards understanding the issues and the history of our family dynamics. In addition to gaining a better understanding of how the history is affecting us today we can also look at current family dynamics and their impact on our lives and happiness.
