What is self-care and whole-body well-being? What does your world look & feel like when situations seem out of control, lost, or just unsure of what to do or where to turn or who to trust? Sometimes all a person needs is a voice uninterrupted, without judgments, and a sense of understanding your point of view while allowing you to figure out the situation in a new way with a collaborated treatment plan using techniques and skills individualized for you. I am an LMHC with over a decade plus working with individuals and families specializing in substance abuse and recovery, complex trauma, anxiety, eating disorders, personality disorders, relationship issues, anger and rage problems, and complex grief. This is only an overview of my area of expertise. I work with you to reach the goals you set out based on the objectives we set together. Asking for help is the most challenging step and no matter what the situation is I am willing to listen and if I am unable to assist, I will refer you to someone who can. Thank you for being brave.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Therapy is a process that is dependent upon YOU; meaning what you put into a session is what you will get out of the session. The first session is fact-gathering and getting to what brings you to therapy. The following session includes the creation of a treatment plan with goals and objectives and how to go about meeting them to best meet your needs. We will process at the start of each session what worked and didn't work, and your thoughts about it. Each session is structured as you choose; however, growth is the goal and my job is to challenge you to keep moving forward.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I utilize CBT (cognitive behavioral Therapy), DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy), SFBT (solution-focused behavioral therapy), narrative therapy, Geshalt therapy, Mindfulness therapy, and many more evidenced-based therapies as best practice standards. If something is not working, we will try something else. The treatment methods include action on your part and only what you choose after you have been educated about the technique and specific skill. You will be expected to try new approaches to gain movement and growth forward.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My strength is assisting clients in gaining a new perspective on a situation, relationship, life issue, etc. I am a listener who values a person's voice and opinion and will validate feelings without judgment. Building relationships with my clients is very important and more that they feel safe when sharing with me so I am confident in my ability to make others feel at ease with very personal information when it may feel difficult to trust someone. It is difficult to talk with a person and share things that might be dark or scary or over the top. Just remember, I am here to protect you -even if it is from yourself.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I am focused on people who may have had difficulties with therapy in the past and may have resistance to “getting real” or anyone who is willing or wants to heal/learn or relearn what he/she/they value in life.
