Hi there! My name is Gilynett Montanez and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Connecticut. I help Women struggling with anxiety, OCD, and who have been impacted by trauma so that they can conquer their challenges and become the best versions of themselves. I have been practicing for five years and I am passionate about helping overachieving Women break free from anxiety!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The most important element of a first session is to create a collaborative space where you feel heard and understood. In our first session together, we will start with introductions, allowing you to share what you are comfortable with. We will then dive into the specific challenges that you are currently facing. This will allow us to develop a goal for us to work towards in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a provider, my greatest strength is building trust with clients. I create a safe and supportive space where they feel comfortable opening up about their struggles, which is imperative to create positive change.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

Welcome, I’m happy that you’re here! I know how difficult it can be to navigate all the challenges modern-day women are up against- second guessing yourself to the point of decision fatigue, feeling like you are stuck in ‘fight or flight’ and flooded with emotion -  it can feel like there is no end in sight.  If you’re tired of anxiety ruling your life then you have come to the right place.  I want you to know that you have more control over those tiresome racing thoughts than you think you do.  Some of your challenges with anxiety may be: * Feeling irritable  * Sense of panic or the dreadful ‘on edge’ feeling  * Physical symptoms- stomach aches, headaches, nausea  * Intrusive thoughts  * Procrastination  Working with me we can tackle your anxiety head-on. Together we will identify the root causes of your anxiety, understand how it gets in the way of your relationships, work, and family life, and develop practical ways to manage it. I do my best work with women who are having difficult life transitions, are cycle breakers of generational trauma, and are consumed by perfectionism. I know how badly you want to feel confident and experience more joy in your life because every woman deserves that.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to treat individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, and trauma for the past four years. CBT allows individuals to gain self-awareness of their unhelpful thoughts that are getting in the way of feeling calm and being the best versions of themselves. Helping individuals identify these negative thought patterns empowers them to conquer them and develop healthier coping mechanisms.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)

Using Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) has helped many of my clients who struggle with anxiety, OCD, and PTSD by helping them safely confront their triggers, allowing them to understand and accept that their most feared outcomes won't happen. The purpose of exposure is to learn what happens in a situation when individuals don't avoid and/ or engage in a ritual. This reduces their anxiety and allows them to live more fulfilling lives.
