Hello! My name is Kayla and I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I’m here to help you on your journey to find your essence, build meaningful connections, and create your path in life. We receive so many messages on the “right” way to do things but most of the time we feel lost and unsure. I’ll use ideas from Mindfulness Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy to understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and the ways you relate and interact in the world. Together, we can work on creating a life you enjoy and feel proud of!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session, I like to spend time understanding what brought you to therapy at this time. I'll ask questions about when the issues started, how it has impact your life, what you would like to gain out of therapy. I'll also explore things like family and relationship history to get a better idea on how you approach relate to the people in your life. The first session is really meant to help us map out the problem and develop a plan on how to approach it. There can be a lot of unknown when starting with a new therapist but my approachable nature will hopefully put you at ease!

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I create a comfortable and open environment for my clients to sort out the confusing and challenging things they deal with. My ability to relate and not judge makes it easier for clients to get to the root of their problems. I like to help clients understand their emotional experiences and find practical solutions to create lasting change.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

Whether you’re a young adult struggling with anxiety or depression, a mom juggling all your different roles, or individuals navigating the dating world and relationships, I use a collaborative approach to help you understand your values, develop your own way of living & use your strengths/imperfections to your advantage.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I like to use ACT interventions to help clients accept what their strengths and challenges are and use them to their advantage. Sometimes we can't control that we struggle with anxiety or depression but there are behaviors, thought patterns, and coping strategies that can help us thrive despite it!

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help client's become aware of their thought patterns and identify how they can be impacting their mental health. I use interventions like thought stopping, cognitive restructuring, and reframing to expand belief systems and identify alternative perspectives.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I explore how client's approach problems in their life and help them build on the solutions that work and change the ones that don't serve them. I work with clients to create practical solutions that they can follow through with and tackle the reoccurring issues they face.
