My name is Carla & I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I am licensed in Florida & Arkansas. I graduated with my Masters in Social Work in 2008. I am originally from Florida, now living & practicing in Arkansas. I enjoy working with adults who are facing difficult life challenges including grief, stress, work/life balance, self-acceptance & health issues. Seeking therapy is never an easy choice, I hope to make the choice as painless & helpful as possible.
In our first session, we'll start with a briefing introduction, then dive into specific challenges you are struggling with. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through during follow-up sessions.
I've worked many years in the healthcare setting & have a vast knowledge of many different diagnoses, stages of grief, bereavement & crisis intervention. I find great joy in helping people work through difficult situations in life, weather that be the death of a loved one, loss of a job, or a cancer diagnosis.
I love working with older adults who may be facing many difficulties including grief, anxiety, trauma & burnout. Applying different techniques to each situation & client to fit their needs is my top priority. I support individuals in gaining emotional regulation, healthier cognitive skills and behaviors, and coping strategies to improve their lives. I will meet you where you are by building a trusting relationship that's non-judgmental and genuine.
I've been using Motivational Interviewing techniques in practice for 15 years. The basics of Motivational Interviewing (MI) are: Open-ended questions, affirmations, reflective listening & summarizing. I also enjoy a more holistic approach in my sessions & diving deep into what works best for each individual.
I have been certified in Trauma-informed care since 2020. Trauma-informed care focuses on safety, trust, choice & empowerment. It is a great tool to use during a crisis or getting to the root of childhood trauma experiences.
