My name is Kristin Koehler and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have garnered much of my clinical experience working with adolescents, parents, and families in various residential and outpatient treatment programs using a mixture of different therapeutic approaches in order to help clients make progress and start to feel better. I have always been drawn to helping others and enjoy seeing people thrive when they are able to be the best version of themselves. To set up initial appointments, please utilize 1-786-755-1863 or intake+Kristin19242@growtherapy.com.
I would ask that clients kindly please fill out the intake forms sent upon scheduling the initial session, as they will help give me a better understanding of what has prompted seeking of additional supports and guide the assessment process towards increased understanding of how I can best meet those needs.
I have over 20 years of experience working in the mental health field, including work with adolescents in residential treatment, high risk youth and families, teens and adults receiving outpatient community services, and private practice clients. My treatment work with clients has often taken the form of support with managing mood disorders such as anxiety and depression, attention and impulse-control disorders, trauma and stressor-related disorders, and relationship challenges. I have been licensed for the past 3 years and am currently only accepting clients via telehealth.
I have found that my style and approach tend to be a good fit for pre-teens and older adolescents who may be navigating emotional, social, and family challenges. I also have a lot of experience working with adults to help them manage mood disorders, work through relationship challenges, and navigate different life transitions while developing skills to help manage stressors more effectively.
I take an individualized approach to therapy and tailor my strategies to the needs and identified goals of each client. I use a variety of approaches which include cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, attachment-based therapy, and mindfulness practices to help develop a shared understanding with my clients that will guide the therapeutic process.
