I am Sandra Snyder, a licensed clinical social worker with a Master's Degree in Social Work and am licensed to do counseling in the state of Georgia. I have worked in many areas of social work in my career(medical, individual and group counseling). I have been doing telecounseling for the past severaI years. I love working with the people I talk to, helping them explore their life challenges and providing a supportive space to find ways to cope and feel better. I was born in Atlanta and have lived most of my life in the Atlanta area. I am married, have 2 stepchildren, 3 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
I use the first session to get to know you, helping you identify your challenges and how these struggles affect your mood and activities. I will also help you identify how you would like to see your life change and what your goals in counseling are. I will tell you a little bit about me, how we can work together to help you, and ways that have been helpful to clients in dealing with depression and anxiety.
I always use empathy, flexibility, simple ways of explaining skills clients can use. I am a good listener, compassionate, and affirming. I like using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help you challenge negative thoughts and feelings which may have contributed to your depression and anxiety. I will offer you different options for therapy, such as talk therapy(allowing you to express your emotions. mindfulness, and relaxation. I will let you decide what will be most helpful to you. I can also share information with you about depression and anxiety and ways that may help you in between sessions, such as journaling, worksheets and information about some of your challenes.

Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Suicide Prevention (CBT-SP)
I have been using cognitive behavoral therapy for 25+ years. For people who are experincing depression, anxiety, and other life challenges, I use cognitive behavioral therapy to explore negative thinking and how it impacts their mood. I use cognitive behavioral therapy to reframe negative thinking. With practice and examples through worksheets, I can teach clients how to decrease their depression and anxiety through replacing negative thought patterns, thereby decreasing their depression.
Christian Counseling
I am a Christian and use my faith with clients who have requested Christian based therapy. I combine my therapy skills with positive, inspirational and supportive devotional material, Bible verses, and prayer as the client feels comfortable.
Eclectic
I combine various therapy methods that are research-based along with supportive counseling with those with low self-esteem and depression. I often combine CBT, mindfulness, and relaxation counseling techniques. I also have short phrases to remind the clients of what we have learned together in therapy. When clients are in a public situation or conflict with another person, I might suggest that they breathe in and to calm themselves or use the phrase "respond, don't react".

The fact that she is a Christian and have many years of experience is what resignated with my spirit. I felt that she would understand me and I wasn't wrong. She was very welcoming and pleasant and I feel she offers a safe space for me to be vulnerable which is something that's very hard for me to do. I'm looking forward to each session as I take this journey to discover how my past shaped the person that I am today and understand ME better!
