You're not your thoughts, feelings or traumatic experiences, you're what you choose to be. You deserve to be free from your trauma! I am a California Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), serving in all areas of California. I specialize in supporting adults who are struggling with traumatic experiences. My main focus includes Childhood Abuse Survivors, Sexual Assault Survivors and Culturally Specific Trauma. Trauma can subconsciously have an effect on an individual and prevent him or her from properly treating the issue mentally. However, not all who experience trauma are necessarily traumatized. I am here to assist you in processing trauma in ways that aren't too discomforting. You will learn ways to transform shame and guilt into self compassion by soothing your inner child. Let’s look at your old story with a different perspective and try to discover the cause of your internal struggles and recreate a new story, where you get to choose the ending. I look forward to joining you in your journey!
Our first session will involve an evaluation of your needs, which often includes reasons for seeking therapy. Initial sessions might be challenging for you because it may bring out many unpleasant memories and/or emotions. However, you can expect a warm, authentic and compassionate atmosphere where you can feel supported and understood. Together, we will talk about how you deal with your emotions, your relationships, struggles you have, and places you don’t feel so powerful. I will help you deal with your emotions differently and help you learn about your relationships in ways that make you stronger. You’ll be able to deal with this and you’ll be able to change. By the end of the evaluation period, I will be able to offer you some initial impressions of how our work together would be helpful and some of the difficulties that we would address if you were to decide to continue with therapy. You can evaluate this information along with your own impressions and whether you feel comfortable working with me.
Strengths that I posses are empathy, warmth, care, encouragement, authenticity, and longing. My ability to tune and mirror someone's emotions allows me to hold space for them and help to create their own self compassion. In addition, asking questions in unique ways that promote guidance and self discovery helps me cultivate collaboration in problem solving and changes that people desire for their transformation.
I have discovered that my approach sits well with adults who are struggling with unprocessed trauma accompanied by many other mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression. With my felt sense, I am able to deeply connect with each individual and lift some of the pain, so they can feel supported and less fearful of the pain from their emotions.
We will talk about how you deal with your emotions and your relationships, struggles you have, and places you don’t feel so powerful, and I will help you deal with your emotions differently and help you learn about your relationships in ways that make you stronger. You'll be able to reduce fear of being overwhelmed emotionally to experience wholeness and balance, you’ll be able to learn about the blocks to attachment and restructure the bond with self and others.
We will be working on identifying automatic thoughts, underline assumptions and core beliefs to help change the unhelpful patterns of behaviors. We will be reframing these thoughts and beliefs to change feelings and behaviors.
