Hello! My name is Cheryl Cox, a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) in Ohio. I have treated individuals seeking therapy for over 15 years, in-home, in-person within medical clinics and private practice and recently via online therapy for approximately 6 years. I feel that I have quite a down to earth approach and I take great strides in meeting you where you currently are regarding your present circumstances, situation, strengths and challenges. I also feel that humor is important in developing rapport and I very much enjoy adding a little levity, when appropriate. Whether you're dealing with feelings of overwhelm or cycles of anxiety and depression, I'm here to help. Seeking therapy can feel scary but you're making the right choice. You deserve a safe space to heal and grow. In our sessions together, I'll meet you with compassion and evidence-based techniques so you can overcome the hang-ups and habits holding you back. Let's work together!
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow up sessions.
Because I am personally a member, I feel that I have a unique understanding of the difficulties and challenges within the LGBTQIA+ community. I specialize in the care and treatment of members of the LGBTQ+ community and, due to limited availability, I do not provide care and treatment for heterosexual marriage/family concerns.
I feel that I am best positioned to serve the members of the LGBTQIA+ community. However, I welcome individuals from all walks of life. I neither provide couple's therapy nor work with heterosexual marriage or relationship issues.

This was a wonderful first session. I loved talking with Cheryl as it felt like she really gives you the space to talk but also has a lot of knowledge and experience to provide as well. She is extremely kind, open-minded, and I felt comfortable telling her anything. I definitely feel like I found the therapist for me! Thank you Cheryl :)
