I'm Magda McGuire, a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Mental Health Counselor and my practice is called Elevated Horizons Counseling, LLC. My commitment to my profession is evident through almost a decade-long career in counseling, where I have honed my expertise in affirming client centered therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy. I have experience working in hospital settings as a liaison counselor assisting patients and their families to navigate end-of-life challenges, serious mental illnesses, adjustment issues and crisis situations. I also have experience working in jail settings with individuals from all walks of lives facing challenges such as adjustment issues, serious mental illness, anxiety, depression, guilt, shame, remorse, addictions, suicide attempts, crisis and many more challenges.
In our first session, I would like to start with introductions to get to know you a little bit. Then we could discuss the challenges you are facing or the reason why you are seeking counseling. Then, together, we could develop a treatment plan with goals that are attainable so we can start working on improving your life.
As a dedicated Clinical Mental Health Therapist, I provide a safe and empathetic, unbiased, safe space where we can work together to navigate challenges and create positive change. I like to use active listening, empathy and unconditional positive regard to promote a trusting environment that would allow self-discovery and growth. I believe every individual is unique and I'm committed to tailoring our sessions to your needs and goals. I'm here to support you every step of the way.
I enjoy working with adults, children and adolescents, I really don't have a preferred population. However, my ideal client is an individual that is searching for answers, eager to understand and improve themselves, their lives and relationship but, don't yet have the tools needed to reach this goal. They often have difficulty understanding themselves, others and don't know how to improve their relationships.

I believe that each individual strives for growth and has a need for wholeness. For this, I assist my clients to identify the root cause of problematic behaviors, since it's essential for the development of the personality and change. I also guide them towards a more goal direct way of living, self-love, responsibility and purpose.
