Hi! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Holistic Therapist. I am based in New Jersey. I have dedicated my life to fostering holistic wellness for women of color through my groundbreaking venture, Sankofa Holistic Counseling Services. Equipped with a diverse range of certifications, including mindfulness-informed practice and trauma-informed care. My unique approach to therapy incorporates elements of traditional counseling with holistic modalities such as crystal bowl sound healing, creating a safe and nurturing space for healing and growth.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I begin by conducting an initial assessment to understand your presenting problems, including your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors related to those problems. This assessment helps me identify patterns and formulate a treatment plan. My ultimate goal is for you to leave our sessions feeling empowered and supported, equipped with the tools to navigate life's challenges with resilience and confidence

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

At Sankofa Holistic Counseling Services we use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy a structured and collaborative approach aimed at helping clients understand and change their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I help the client identify and challenge cognitive distortions—unhelpful or irrational ways of thinking that contribute to distress. Common cognitive distortions include black-and-white thinking, catastrophizing, and personalization.

Feminist

Feminist therapy is an approach to psychotherapy that focuses on understanding and addressing the impact of gender and power dynamics on an individual's mental health and well-being. Feminist therapy considers the broader social and cultural context in which clients live. They explore how systemic inequalities, discrimination, and social injustices impact clients' mental health and influence their personal struggles.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness-based therapy incorporates principles and techniques from mindfulness practices into psychotherapeutic approaches to help clients develop greater awareness, acceptance, and resilience. Mindfulness-based therapy helps clients develop skills for managing stress and anxiety. Clients learn to anchor themselves in the present moment, reducing rumination about the past or worries about the future that contribute to anxiety.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I use solution-focused therapy to help clients identify and build upon their strengths, resources, and successes to create positive change in their lives. This approach emphasizes empowerment, collaboration, and a focus on solutions rather than problems.

Strength-Based

I use strength-based therapy to empower clients, promote resilience, and facilitate positive change by focusing on their inherent strengths and capabilities. This approach fosters a sense of optimism, self-efficacy, and empowerment that can lead to lasting improvements in clients' lives.
