Hi there, I'm Terri. I am so proud of you! Welcome to starting your healing journey. You have made an important choice for yourself—starting the process of exploring what brings you distress and wanting relief. Together, we will have a private space to wonder out loud and make connections between your past, present and important relationships. If this is your first time in therapy, then this beginning may bring up a lot of questions and anxiety. You may have heard or read myths about counseling that are out there: “It means something is wrong with you,” or, “Just don’t think about (insert problem here) and you’ll be fine.” Know that nothing is ‘wrong with you’ and not addressing the problem usually only makes it bigger in the long run. We all benefit from having someone to share our feelings with and help us make sense of the stresses that we face. That’s why I’m here! Do you feel you need to have control of every aspect of your life? Are you always thinking about the future and ‘What’s next’ on your never-ending to-do list? Do you feel alone, isolated, or withdrawn? Have you noticed that you’re increasingly irritable, anxious, restless, and overwhelmed? No worries! We can address these concerns and more. I help people address uncomfortable topics to break generational cycles. I aim to assist those who struggle with saying ‘No’, and who often forget about their needs.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we’ll start with brief introductions, then dive into specific challenges you’re facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow up sessions.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I use various modalities in my sessions, depending on the client and their unique needs. I pride myself in having clients become active partners in their treatment and provide feedback and encouragement as needed. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a structured approach that allows us to address how our thoughts and feelings are connected to our behaviors. Using this approach, I will encourage you to be open to various interventions such as role-playing, and challenging irrational thoughts to change them to adaptive healthy thoughts to address your concerns as they arise during our sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I specialize in anxiety, depression, life transitions, bipolar disorder, substance abuse and domestic violence. My biggest strength is that I have directly and indirectly encountered all of the issues I specialize in I have a unique perspective and can provide you with the support and comfort you may need.
