Greetings! Thank you for your consideration to enter into a therapeutic relationship with me. I would like to share a little background information to help you make an informed decision, prior to moving forward. I completed all of my formal education from The Pennsylvania State University (Penn State), included a bachelors degree in Bio-Behavioral Health, a masters degree in Counselor Education/Psychiatric Rehabilitation, and a doctoral degree in Adult Education. My doctoral dissertation pertained to substance used disorders and spiritual development amongst human service professionals. I began working in clinical practice in 2002; since that time I have worked in various settings including: State Vocational Rehabilitation, outpatient practice, psychiatric hospitals, detox centers, and educational institutions. Specialization areas within my practice include: the blended family experience, depression and anxiety concerns, traumatic experiences, substance use concerns, and general aspects of phase of life adjustment. I currently reside on the eastern shore in Delaware with my wife and 3 children. In my free time I enjoy experiencing the outdoors, playing and building guitars, and engaging in activities with my family.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Typically in an initial session my goal is to introduce myself, learn more about the person/couple whom I'm meeting with, explaining my scope of practice, and identifying some initial goals that are desired by the participant(s) to work on.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

My care is primarily guided by the healing powers of relationship, authenticity, establishing trust, and exploring aspects of perceived resiliency. Within this context I tend to implore therapeutic modalities of an eclectic nature from various psychological disciplines including: cognitive-behavior, humanistic, existential, and family systems perspectives.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

We all live quite busy lives, and I cherish and respect that you are dedicating time with me for personal wellness growth. That said, my goal is to promote skills and activities you can utilize outside of our meetings (self care skills, hobbies, meaningful activities, etc) which I believe will add to your wellness journey.
