What draws you to therapy at this time in your life? What do you expect to gain? Every therapist operates under specific assumptions in therapy, which explains the various methods, and ideologies about treatment. My only assumption about the human is that we continue to suffer because we create a disconnect between our authentic self, and who we present to others. The self we present to others inevitably creates emotions that of depression, and anxiety. Traumas are experiences outside of our control that we can choose to continue to suffer with, or use as interventions to give ourselves a new perspective on life. I strive to help others discover their authentic self, so that they can create their own fulfilment. And that fulfilment can only be created by yourself. I can only assist you in discovering who you really are, discard the self you present to others, and wish you the best as you take on your journey of creating your own well-deserved fulfilment. Ultimately, in feeling more fulfilment, we begin to create more meaningful relationships which are great contributors to our happiness. Sometimes ordinary psychotherapy just isn’t “it”. Most people who come into my practice come due to persistent sexual and emotional problems that regular psychotherapy analyzed, but did not effectively facilitate. Sometimes, “How does it make you feel?” Is simply too little and not sufficient for change. You are left feeling an inventory of your issues, but not much change. You will likely find me quite different to the above. I don’t fit the mold and this is intentional because traditional psychotherapy frustrates me and I need to bring about relief and real change. I am extroverted and high-energy. I am an active and verbose facilitator, and you come because you desire to do the hard work on yourself. It is my honor to serve. I help emotional/sexual/abuse traumas heal using bilateral stimulation known as tapping, and positive psychotherapy. We laugh together! I work with fathers as well. I teach men how to listen effectively, for conflict resolution and to learn how to validate your mate and yourself for deeper relaxation and communion as a pair. Congratulations for taking the step to seek counseling. The world we live in is increasingly complex, and we can find ourselves feeling disconnected, stressed, and uncertain about what direction to take. How do we identify solutions for our life’s challenges? How do we let go of stress and sleep at night? As a therapist, I have counseled with individuals and families for over ten years and have found that problem-solving does not have to be stressful, and that we can work through our toughest issues. It is common to believe that people in our relationships, or circumstances in our lives cause us to feel the way we do. But it is our thinking, and the way we relate to people and circumstances, that create our feelings and emotions. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy helps us observe what we are feeling and identify the thoughts that create our feelings. With increased self-awareness, we determine which of our thoughts and perceptions are distorted and unhelpful. As our thinking becomes more realistic, we feel better. There are several therapy methods that are effective in creating positive change, including Narrative Therapy, Goal Setting, Visioning for Personal Growth, and Mindfulness to promote focus and attention.
