Thank you for reviewing my profile. I am originally a midwest farm gal with a little city pazzaz having lived in the Chicagoland area for many years. Although I am now a CA resident, my midwest roots are grounding to me. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in California. I provide counseling services via telehealth and on Tuesday's have in-person sessions available to those who live locally. On days I am off and not working, I enjoy reading, riding the motorcyle with my husband, spending time with my adult kids, traveling, taking walks with our pet dog, Buddy, and working out at the gym. I am divorced, have lost a pet I dearly cherished, lost my father, and work hard to get my PhD! I am a huge advocate of self-care because that is what helped me keep taking one step forward on difficult days. Take courage and know that I, too, have not been without struggles, but encourage you to know there is hope everyday!
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introduction, then talk about the specific challenges you're facing. This will help us create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
Having worked with women for many years, one of my greatest strengths as a therapist is acceptance and warmth embracing you just as you are and where you are in life's journey. I have also worked with children and families for over 20+ years having a background in education and counseling. I have worked with children who are afraid of dogs, have lost a pet, loved one, or feeling sad about a parents divorce and navigating change.
Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.
I work with women who are in transitions such careers, new baby, divorce recovery, or attending college and starting their degree, experiencing imposter syndrome, or self-doubt. I also work with women who have lost a loved one and even a family pet. My clients are eager to improve, but don't yet have the tools needed to make this goal a reality. They may feel stuck, overwhelmed, and anxious. I work with children ages 8-10 who are feeling anxious and overwhelmed. My background as a special education teacher for over 20+ years and working in the schools provides an understanding of child development and how anxiety impacts peer relationship and coping in the classroom.
