The best time to begin or restart your life's journey is NOW!. I'm a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor based in California. I received my Master of Science Degree from the National Louis University - Illinois. I provide comprehensive psychotherapy services. I utilize a culturally competent approach to assessment, and believe that psychotherapy requires the ability to understand culture, socioeconomic factors and ethnicity. I utilize several therapy modalities including, but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help individuals with emotional challenges and thinking errors. My approach helps individual learn techniques to reduce and manage anxiety, function in the healing of trauma, improve depressed mood, reduce stress and burnout, change negative core beliefs to positive beliefs, and manage anger. My approach begins with establishing a therapist-client relationship by creating a safe, nurturing nonjudgmental environment to address your concerns and challenges. In addition, I understand addiction and the challenges that people face who struggle with substance use. I can assist you with determining if your substance use is problematic and help you find a recovery process that works for you.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with individuals and couples for over 15 years, I've developed a tried-and-true playbook for helping individuals identify the root causes of their challenges and create a tailored plan that leads to measurable progress.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I love assisting individuals reach their academic and/or occupational goals. I work well with those experiencing emotional, interpersonal problems, social anxiety, domestic violence or trauma reactions. My clients are eager to improve, but don't yet have the tools needed to make this goal a reality. They often feel stuck, overwhelmed and anxious - which results in having difficulty with decision making and problem solving. My therapeutic approach teaches individuals how to develop healthy cognitive patterns and beliefs about themselves and the world that lead to positive, adaptive coping patterns, improvement in self-care and day-to-day functioning.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have utilized this therapy for individual/couples therapy for more than approximately 10 years. I use CBT to help individuals deal with overwhelming emotions, stress, negative self-talk, procrastination and excessive worry. CBT helps individuals problem-solve and make decisions in more positive ways that promote improvement in day-to-day functioning.

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

I have utilized CPT over the past year with individuals who present with trauma/abuse history. I utilize this therapy to help people recognize how trauma has changed their view about themselves, others, and the world. The Cognitive Processing Therapy teaches people to recognize the negative thoughts that are created by the trauma. These thoughts are called "stuck points" in CPT because they keep people stuck and get in the way of trauma healing/recovery. I assist individuals to become unstuck using this therapy - unstuck from negative thought/behavioral patterns.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

I have utilized EFT with couples over the past 5 years to assist partners in identifying undesirable behaviors (i.e., shutting down or angry escalations) as "protests of disconnection." Couples learn to be emotionally available, empathetic, and engaged with each other, strengthening the attachment bond and creating a safe place between them.

Motivational Interviewing

I have utilized this treatment method with individuals who have substance use issues, adolescents and teens because it is a person-centered, non-confrontational counseling technique that prompts behavior change, and this treatment methods helps elicit behavior change by helping individuals explore and resolve ambivalence
